    The flow of the working fluid (water or steam) in the pipes is horizontal and the flow of exhaust gasses is vertical, which means each heat exchanger in the HRSG can be considered to be a cross flow heat exchanger as shown in Figure 1. The fluid in the evaporator undergoes forced circulation by pump for both pressure levels.
